It’s THE AWESOMEST, Auntie!

I survived a 10 year olds birthday party this past weekend.  I survived said party attended by twenty-seven 10 year olds.  There was a karaoke DJ, a face painter and a seriously loud sound system.  Those kiddos were rockin’ out! Of course, I made the much talked about guitar cake.  I started on it on Thursday with the frosting.  On Friday evening, I baked the first 2-layer sheet cake and on Saturday morning I baked the second 2-layer sheet cake.  I started on Saturday morning around 8:30 am and took a 1 1/2 hour break to venture over to Party City to pick up some balloons for the Birthday...

Guitar Cake Essentials

I’m all geared up to make the guitar cake, starting on it tomorrow, thanks to a little help from a fellow baker and blogger – Jen @ She Takes The Cake who suggested I toss the Wilton’s fondant that needed to be dyed pink and find some Satin Ice pre-dyed fondant instead.  So with a full tank of gas, I geared up to traverse the GINORMOUS city that is Houston in search of the things I will need. Holy Chocolate Bar, Batman!

I was at Marshall’s this afternoon and saw this little (scoff, scoff) goodie.  Only $29.99 and it can be yours!! $29.99 for a candy bar, you say?  Well, here is a better photo to show you its actual size in comparison to its surroundings. I wonder how much frosting I could make with that guy.  Or, better yet, what kind of a Smores I could make.  Wow.  Where would I find a graham cracker large enough?  I need to call the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man to see if he can find me a large enough marshmallow.
